I'm a broadcast journalist in the Philippines who's taking up a two-year program on Broadcast and Online Journalism at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in Canada to further my education on the craft I've chosen. My strengths are pitching stories, interviewing, mobile journalism, video editing and social media integration. I've been sharing the stories of my country for two decades and would love to tell the stories of  the world. I'm a keen observer, a good listener and a passionate storyteller. I aim to inspire and contribute in making positive changes in this beautiful world we live in through my work.

Video Journalist, OMNI News Filipino Edition

I'm a video journalist and anchor for OMNI News Filipino Edition, a Filipino newscast, produced by Rogers Sports and Media.  On September 5, 2020, OMNI launched its newscast in Filipino which has since reflected stories that matter to the Filipino community here in Canada. OMNI Television by Rogers prides itself of inclusive programming, having shown a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. We, at OMNI, aim to give our communities a voice in Canadian issues and show our culture and heritage to create a better understanding on people's differences which is Canada's strength.

My Calling

My years of experience in television have taught me that I have a tremendous responsibility in the stories I make. I'm fueled by the love of my family and the inspiring stories of people around me. I want to be an instrument for people to be seen and have a voice so that problems can be addressed, issues can be discussed and changes can be achieved. My family background, social exposure and professional experience taught me to see the heart in every story. Paired with skills and knowledge in traditional and new media, I aim to passionately tell stories of people to the world. This is my service.

About Me

I was born in Manila, Philippines and was raised by parents who had humble beginnings. They worked hard to give me the best education and that led me to finish a four-year program in Mass Communications in a university in Manila. After finishing college, I started working as a segment producer for a morning show in GMA, one of the biggest networks in the Philippines. I did reportorial work covering the police and military beat. Eventually, I was given the chance to do on-cam work for several news and public affairs' programs. I was part of the longest running morning show in Philippine television called "Unang Hirit" and had the best times in the broadcast industry with my morning family. One of my notable on-cam works was being the face of Philippine's GMA's current affairs' program called "Pinoy Abroad" where I was sent to 14 countries to cover the stories of Filipinos working abroad.  Last August 2019, I left my 19-year broadcast career in the Philippines to go back to school. Presently, I'm a student at the British Columbia Institute of Technology,  taking up a two-year program on Broadcast and Online Journalism.

I'm a mother to two sweet boys and a wife to a hardworking and loving businessman. They give me strength to embrace living outside of my comfort zone to continue my journey to be better on the path I've chosen.

I love long walks in nature, riding the bike, jumping rope and a good cup of coffee.

This is my online portfolio in progress. I hope to put more content as I experience new adventures as an international student and discover more about myself. Allow me to give you a different perspective on Canadian issues through the eyes of a Filipino.

Maraming salamat! (Thank you!)
